Miscellaneous Monday
This week is all about friends. Today, I got to have lunch and a much needed catch up session with one of my lifelong friends. On Wednesday, I’ll be in Midland for work and made plans to visit with one of my law school besties. On Friday, I’m meeting up with another buddy for dinner and what I’m sure will turn in to a 5 hour gabfest because that is inevitable with us two....
Miscellaneous Monday
I know that most people dread the beginning of the school year, but I always loved it. I got to go shopping for a slew of new clothes, have a fashion show to determine which outfit to don on the first day, and check out what my classmates were wearing. Now that’s my idea of a good time! Sadly, today was just another day at the office for me, but I am excited about this week’s...
Street Chic
I have no earthly idea who this chic chick is, but she masterfully mixes a casual cotton dress with a polished satin scarf. Trust me, that’s not an easy look to pull off. So, kudos to her, and here’s how you can accomplish this feat, too:

Recipe Rewind
Red Velvet Cupcakes - Paula Deen is known for her fattening fares, and her red velvet cupcake recipe is certainly no exception: 1 pound of cream cheese, 2 sticks of butter, 5 1/2 cups of sugar. Despite that heart attack inducing combination, the cupcakes were merely okay. They tasted like a standard vanilla cupcake with red food coloring, rather than the dark, rich flavor that I expect from...
Miscellaneous Monday
Hi ho, hi ho! It’s off to Possum Kingdom we go! Technically, we’re not going until Friday, but as you can probably tell, I’m already pretty pumped. Some of my best childhood memories were at my aunt’s cabin on Lake Kemp. We molded masterpieces out of clay, swam from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and ate s’mores until our bellies ached. Here’s to a fast week and an...
The Sketch(y) Artist
As promised, I have been diligently reading and practicing along with “Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner.” The first couple of chapters were useless. Not to toot my own horn (though I am totally okay doing that), but apparently I am slightly more skilled than an utter beginner. I am now on Chapter 3, which is entitled “Turning Edges in to Objects.” My task was...
Miscellaneous Monday
Last weekend was filled with all of my favorite things: long chats with my grandparents, my nephews’ never-ending supply of hugs, slow dances with my hunky hubby and my mom’s unparalleled broccoli and rice casserole. I’m a lucky girl! Here are few more things that bring a smile to my face:
